“Golden records” for Leuze electronic
The sensor specialists chooses the Heiler solution suite for communication managementOwen/Teck, 5 Mai 2008 ---- Leuze electronic, which specializes in optoelectronic sensors, has chosen the solution suite from Heiler Software to provide strategic support for international communication. All of the company's product and marketing data, which is currently distributed across various IT systems and storage media, will be consolidated and managed in Heiler Product Manager and Heiler Media Manager and, from there, output to a wide range of communication channels. The objectives are to maintain the product data and to optimize the process of provision of product information to its customers. Heiler Business Catalog will be used in the later stages of the implementation.
Leuze electronic is also implementing the database publishing solution from Heiler's partner InBetween to create its printed promotional material. The “sensor people” expect that the Heiler-InBetween solution will significantly shorten the time it takes to produce printed material. It will also allow them to pitch to customers directly in their local language.
Essential to global communication are Leuze's “golden records”, i.e. centrally stored, cross-media, redundancy-free product and marketing information relating to the company's approximately 17,000 optosensor items. These “golden records” ensure that all product and marketing data can be re-used, and provide a basis for companywide product information management (PIM) and translation management.
Andreas Holzschuh, PIM Project Manager at Leuze electronic, explains the decision in favor of the Heiler solution suite as follows: “We want the publication of our products in print and electronic communication channels to be both standardized and synchronized at a global level”. Heiler came out on top after Leuze had considered no less than 30 PIM solutions. The choice was swung both by its performance and functional scope and by the impressive list of customer references.
As Andreas Holzschuh explains: “Thanks to shorter production cycles and radically reduced production costs for our promotional material, we are expecting our product communication to be much more effective. This will generate considerable added value for our customers when it comes to information gathering.” In the future, all of Leuze's customers worldwide will receive the same information at practically the same time in their local languages. It will also be easier to make country-specific adjustments. Moreover, the Heiler solution will allow the sensor provider to make optimal use of any communication channels it may use in the future.
In the final phase, around 100 users in Marketing, Product Management, Service, Sales and in Leuze electronic's foreign subsidiaries will be using the integrated Heiler platform. The benefits of using the revamped “golden records” will also be felt by all of the company's customers, employees, external service providers and partners.
